I have an aftermarket receiver. The detachable face sticks out too far. I would like it flush to the panel. How do you folks do it?

thats a pretty loose question. How bout you tell us what inda car you have, what kinda deck you have and what dash kit you are using if you have one.

You can ISO-mount it using some radio backstrap.  Make a jig out of strips of wood that fits flush around the deck.  Double stick it to some ABS, and router it.

Clean up the corners with a file by hand until it fits.  Now trim the outside so it'll fit the factory bezel, and tack it in place all the way around with some super glue.

did you buy a kit for it,or just a pocket?

If you bought the pocket and mounted the radio to the factory brackets then you can just move the radio back some and use different mounting holes,or drill new holes in the brackets back a little farther.then put your trim ring back on,you might have to shave it down some to fight right. On the bottom and the sides.A bench grinder work great for shaving the trim ring.

If you used a kit,it will be a little harder!

Hope this helps ya!

Sorry, no pics, but that's the general process.  If you use a kit, though, sometimes you can still squeeze a finishing piece (1/16th) in behind a bezel- and it's thin enough to flex some if you need to contour it.

come to think of it, i use the kit only for the 2nd deck as a filler. it's a CD holder. i use the OEM bracket to hold the receiver. the whole entire face of my JVC reciever sticks out.

i was thinking about drilling new holes on my OEM brackets but a fraction of an inch off the alignment i will be screwed that's because i have one chance to drill it correctly. the OEM holes have small bumps on the inside to easily align with the receiver. so do i file that down. what do you think?
