still working on that mercedes i see.posted_image Iv installed alot of systems and iv passed by a few of these amps, and have had only problems. But iv heard a number of people have been having problems with them, so...... If it was my car i wouldnt put one in -- since there are better amps that you could find at better prices-- but i would look into sometihng else. I know other people might have different opinions but in my case i wouldnt have one of these at the top of my list. If i remember correctly those speakers run at about 60 watts. I would look for maby a 50-70 x 4 amp. I would also suggest not putting coaxil speakers in the front. Incase you havent purchased them yet. But your best bet since i can tell your looking for something cheap is to do a little ebay searching. Remeber though, buying used amps is very dumb, even though it might work at first, the lifetime is probably already deminished.

Well im not sure about a kenwood amp. Focal is pRETTy high end. The components ive seen locally are about 800 dollars. I wouldnt put a KENWOOD amp on something with such quality. Go for somethign with high quality. Eg Phoenix Gold, Zapco, JL , but the choice is of course up to you.

ya honestly. I had a ALPINE MRV T320 2004 V12 amp on my components for 2 months. I then bough a PG tantrum 300.2 even though it was about 10 WATTS less per channel it had much much much cleaner sound. And the tantrum series is almost 4-5 yrs old. I now am runnign a phoenix titanium amp zx400ti on my components and they sound even better then the tantrum amp. SO ya i reccomend phoenix gold all the way but buy it from a AUTHORIZED DEALER and NOT EBAY!.

Thezeb.com is the best if you wanan buy online its cheaper and has a warranty but dont go with phoenix gold if you only plan on buying from ebay. The xenon 100.2 or 200.2 should do good for your components. or hell if you want a 4 chanenl get the xenon 200.4 run a whole system with that and leave 400WRMS for a sub.

Honestly you have focal components and you want to amp them with a ENTRY LEVEL amplifier? hell when i was at my pg dealer and i told him my budget he said to actually buy a a pg tantrum t 300.2 off ebay cuz of my budget and he told me it will sound better and cleaner than the octane r amps i was looking at. Lol i was broke at the time and had 200CDN left for a 2 channel amp. Ebay got me a amp with goign through HELL and the amp ended up being trashed cuz it was dead on arrival i got a refund but was hell to go through. try buying a used amp off ebay from a respectable buyer or a forum member for your 200 dollar budget. I took another chance at ebay witiha a used pg tantrum t500.2 and guess what it worked flawlessl and still is.

I will to say buy from a authorized dealer and not online or used from a respectable seller. And just save up some more money it will be WORTH IT trust me.

Phoenix Gold Tantrum 600.4 is what i need???? 75W @ 4ohm on the focals

Well The tantrum amp will most likely sound better than the zeus amp. However the Tantrum is better choice than that PG OCTANE R. but for components i would put a pg XENON 100.4 or 200.4 or a pG titanium ti500.4 if you wnat a 4 channel. I can tell you i went from a tantrum t300.5 and T500.2 on my components to a pg TITANIUM zx400ti. and damn it was a noticeable differnece in SQ. i'd still be happy with the tantrum amp but it died and so i upgraded. i have had alpine v12s on the components at one time as well. and the best sq ive achieved without any deadening is from the pg titanium amp.

Consider Audison and Eclipse amplifiers. Focal are an amazing speaker that produce amazing sound when driven properly. If it means saving for another paycheque, do it. Right now there are some decent deals on the Eclipse PA5422 amplifier rated at 85w rms x 4. If you are in the US, scope one of these fine amps out. For the Audison, look to the LRx4.300.

this is rather funny. You have people saying HiFonics bad, Kenwood good. Or Fosgate. Or whatever brand you wanna throw out. Outside of features and honesty of rating, there isnt going to be dramatic differances in amp outside of what is writen. I have ran the ZR series amps from Kicker for a long time, which is well know for great SQ, and went to HiFonics. No noticable differance in SQ. If there was, and if i were using the same speakers, i would assume a check in H/U would make a bigger diff. on SQ.

Honestly, if you can hear a noticable differance between the majority of these amplifiers, id like whoever claims it to prove it.

Running a high-wattage HiFonics amp would be perfectly fine. Just dont get greedy with gains. I run my Oz Audio Matrix series components off of a Hifonics ZX4000 (100x2 @ 4 ohm RMS). It does the job, but i only wish i had more power (as these are rated 150 watts RMS). Eventualy, ill figure a way to fit it all together (had a ZX6000 origionaly, but couldnt fit it in the tight spot i had, so i downgraded to the ZX4000 and kinda regret it)
