hey what sup guys.... well I have some sort of dilemna going right now.... about 3 days ago a buddy and I installed a 600 watts amp and 2 10's 500watts subs into my Chrysler 300... I wanted to keep my stock radio so I purchased a RCA converter to hook up the amp to the stock radio... well we came across a problem with the speaker wiring....the colors that are listed in the 12volt data base are not the same as the ones in the car... so we were just testing out the wires.... we got it to work... but we had connected the converter to the front Speakers of the car... which I did not mind.... the subs hit pretty good but since I have a small amp they are not givint it their full potential...I have them bridged..... yesterday I found out that when I turn the volume up for some reason the subs die out..... but when I adjust the Fade to the fronts the subs kick in again.....and when I adjust the fade to all 4 speakers the sub dies out.... I really donot know what the problem is.... any suggestions will be greatly appreciate it... thanks

ok, the problem is that you are running it off the stock HU. As you turn the volume up on the stereo, the bass is reduced so the stock speakers don't distort. You will probably get a good signal to the sub up to about 60-70% of the volume on the HU, but after that, as you turn the volume up louder, the HU is programmed to reduce the amount of bass in the signal.
The temporary fix is to turn the gain up higher on the sub's amp, or keep the bass setting up all the way on the HU.
The long term fix is to get an aftermarket headunit.

. that is what I thought too.... but I really donot want to change my HU to an aftermarket one.... One of the reasons is that I donot want to have any gaps in between the stereo....for example... the stock HU fits in snugly as a perfect fit, but If I get a After market HU I will have gaps somewhere.....now Am I right or wrong on that????

Guys, guys, guys, If the woofers come back on when you adjust the fader I severely doubt that it has anything to do with bass cancelation on the factory head unit. My guess is that you have "guessed" wrong on the factory speaker leads and have combined front and rear speaker leads ( ie. front pos with rear neg). Metra's 99-6503 will take care of your aftermarket " gap " problem.

what about a dash kit designed for your car? They tend to get rid of those ugly gaps that you speak of. -------------

I had not really looked into the dash kits..... I have the 05 Chrysler 300... any suggestions of where I can get the dash kit

that was my next guess..... thanks.... ummmm do you happen to know where I can find the stereo wiring diagram for a 05' 300 chrysler????

Get the proper wiring harness for your car, don't worry about a wire diagram, if you get the harness you wont need the diagram since you don't cut your factory wires. That way in the end you can simply pull out your aftermarket cd player, unplug the harness, then push your factory radio in again and plug it in, ,saves hassle in installation and un-installation.
