Air tightness?

I have made a box for my subs and it is all air tight, so when i push on one sub, the other one goes up, lol... should i put and air duct in it, or port it or something?

I actually have another question also..

I have 2 - 300 watt subs, and am going to push 350 to each.. is this ok to give em 50 watts over?

Question # 1 : Before you built the box, you should have decided wether or not you wanted a sealed or ported enclosure. Chances are if the box you built for the subs are sealed, it will not be big enough as a ported box so I suggest the you leave it the way it is.

Question # 2 : More power the better.

With a sealed box, and one that's smaller than spec..the subs can handle more power in theory.....

But yeah like Velocity said man...should have decided on that in advance...usually a ported box has to be I think it's twice the size of a sealed......But if you plan on Playing it loud and having a lot of low bass....I recommend a tight sealed...but that me....

as far as power...yeah it's cool.....

One word of advice..if you start hearing distortion in the subs...cut back the gain on the amp...

Distortion = All Speakers enemy..they go bye bye

As long as you giving your subs CLEAN power, go for it. You will blow a sub faster giving it lower than rated distorted power than you would overpowering it with true continous power (I ran a JL 12w0 (using JL's ported box design on spec sheet) which is rated to handle 125Wrms with 250Wrms or power and it never quit on me). Is 300W the continous or peak rating on the subs, and also, is 350W continous or peak rating on the amp? Jester is right about using a smaller box, but keep in mind if you go too small with a wimpy speaker it will prolly break the cone off the voice coil. Hell, I even saw it happen with a RF punch classic, but the guy that brought it to me had it in an enclosure that was only half the size of what was recommended by RF. As far as wanting to port your box... Start over! A ported enclosure must be designed properly for the sake of SQ and also to keep from ruining a good speaker.
