Orion has specs for a square port (4.43in x 4.43in) and a circular port (5 in) by 16.8in a piece but I'm wondering how I can change these specs into a slot port for the box I will be constructing in the next couple of days. Also is there any reason why I shouldn't use a slot port and should use either a circular or square port instead?

I started to give you an opinion yesterday but ran out of time.
1. A square port is a slot port.
2. A 4.43" square and a round 5" opening are both equal in square inches. That's why both have the same port length.
3. You can convert that opening size to any other rectangular size that will fit your box best. 4.43 * 4.43 = 19.62 square inches. Decide on one length of your slot rectangle and divide it into 19.62 to find the other measurement.
example: You want the short side of the slot to be 2". 19.62 / 2 = 9.8", so your slot opening would be 2" X 9.8" and the length of the port will remain the same.
4. The port size is figured by using the desired tuning frequency and the net volume of the box, along with the parameters of your woofer. If anything changes, you will have to refigure the port volume. However, the shape of the port opening can change to any shape you wish, as long as the total opening square inches remains the same.
5. Slot will work just as well as round for your car subwoofer.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
