I have a 2005 cadillac cts I put a 1500 watt brutus amp its maid by hyfonics, witha  1.25 capacitor and its still draws a lot of current, which makes  the lights dim a lot it drops from 14.9 volts to 12.1 when the bass hits, I ran it with 4 gauge. Please help if you guys have any suggestions

High output alternator, battery bank, or a million caps.

If you have more then 8 ft of power wire I would look to 2 ga. wire.

I doubt that is the issue, the battery should be in the trunk.

Just curious, aside from your current shortage, how does that sound in there??  I acctually just came back from my install shop and they were working on a Caddi. It had 2 JL 13w6's or w7's and enough power to light up a city and the trunk is so sealed and quiet that it didnt sound any louder than my 2 10's!  sounded better, but the guy couldn't get any more sound through the back seat.

And as far as your dimming problem, I would suggest hookin up another battery. Its practically a brand new car, so the alternator should be pretty decent at the least (acctually im suprized 1 1200 watter is doing that).  Its not to difficult or expensive to get a battery and run a wire.  But if you do go with that plan i would highly recomend a relay to switch your car battery out or the circuit with your audio battery when the car isnt running so you'll be able to start the car again after a couple hours of pounding.

We'll I dont want to put a another battery, so I will try to put 2 gauge wire, to see if that works, but do you think the cap makes a diff with the hyfonics brutus 1500 watt amp or its no diff?

dude forget about the 2 gauge cable if your not going to do another battery get a 15 farad digital cap.   That should solve your problem.

No he meant 15 farad, as in fifteen. Personally I don't like caps, they are recommended far too often to fix the wrong thing (hence the million caps comment in original response). You could also try upgrading your grounds, battery to frame ground and engine to frame ground.

So the best thing in my case is get another battery. Does that get expensive?

haha...."digital" cap.....i love it!!
It's almost as bad as the $3 digital-ready headpones i bought!!

as far as dimming, a new alternator is the only thing that will help keep the voltage above 12. High output. If you have a high output alternator and your voltage still drops, then adding caps will help...

What brand wire did you use? Some manufactures uses thick jackets on their wire and calll it 4ga. upgrade your alt wire. if that does not work high out put alt. I may be mistaken but the cap wont make a diff if the amp has a regulated power souece (correct me if im wrong please).
