I was wondering what would happen if you run this amp (KAC-929) with the car turned off.  I installed this amp with a pair of 4 ohm speakers wired to each channel and when the car was turned off the subs turned off it the volume went to high.

Once the car is turned on it works great and the subs do not turn off.  Was this just a crappy car with a weak battery.  Does this amp go into some type of protect mode if the voltage is too low?

Was the amplifier clipping or shutting off?  These are not the same thing.  Clipping is producing distortion usually due to being driven too hard (gain too high, etc.)  Shutting off is when the sound stops.  Many amps have low-voltage protection modes, and it sounds like that's what's probably happening here.

The amp was shutting off.  This is one occation where a higher capacity battery or a dual batteries would be recommended right. Thanks
