Hi I'm new to this stuff and i'm trying to learn, I have the enclosure below for my 2 12" solo barics

it is sealed and each chamber is 1.1sq ft.  Would it be possible to extend it out the rear side and make it a ported box and sound decent?

Also I keep reading about ported box's being tuned to a certain freq.  How is a box tuned? thanks for any help

The enclosure is too small to be ported-Kicker reccomends 2.5 cubic feet per sub for a ported enclosure-it wouldn't sound decent-it would sound like crap.

That would take as much work modifying it as it would to make a new one from scratch.  A new box would also be less of a headache.  https://www.diysubwoofers.org/faq.htm is a good site for learning about box tuning, and you can always use the box specs given by the manufacturer, too.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

From Kicker Tech support. Your bare min would be 2.14 Cubic feet after port and sub mounting its about 1.7. The port needs to be 30 sq inch opening and 22.5 inches long. This will tune the enclosure to 40hrz wich is standard for car audio aplications.. FYI" 30 sq inches would be 3x10. EDIT: thats for 1 subwoofe,r Or 1 chamber of the box
