hey i have 2 kicker L7's and a jbl bp1200.1, im looking to maybe go with a ported box instead of the sealed one there in right now. should i get a memphis 1500D or stick with my jbl 1200.1? would i need an amp with a subsonic filter?

There is nothing wrong with that JBL, great amp for the price. Going from sealed to ported will help with SPL, changing amps will do very little for more SPL, if that is what you are looking for. A subsonic filter is always a good idea for speakers going into ported boxes.
