a lot of amps come with high level inputs so depending on the amp you may not need one. scoache makes some good ones if you need one. and yes you can tap into the rear speakers and keep them fuctional. some dont like my arc-audio  so i use a mtx 202 for my high level input in my wifes car.

what you need is a line out converter. hook it up to the head unit signal going to the rear speakers. your going to need a 12v source for the remote turn on. i am going to do the same thing for my moms car a vw pasat.posted_image

also take into consideration that when "tapping" into the rear speakers using a LOC you may get an echoing effect.  If this happens use a diode on either the positives or negatives of the LOC.  It wont matter which way the cathode stripe is facing as long as it is the same on both speaker lines.

did the dealer search and i have one about 2 miles away, which would you recommend using. all im doing is adding a two channel amp (old coustic amp 460) rated at 100 watts rms per channel in stereo mode to push a pair of 12 inch fosgate punch z subs rated at 150 rms. 4 ohm stereo.

Part Number: LOC80 i think is your best bet basicly for ease of installation and if you do it right your rear speakers will still be functional and run your subs at mono not stereo they dont hit  evenly if you have them in stereo i learned that on here and i experience it they hit much better in mono

cant do mono, single 4 ohm voice coil if i wire in parallel the amp cant handle a 2 ohm mono load, if i wire in series i end up with a 8 ohm load. i have two amps, but each amp bridged would push about 250 watt rms, and the subs are only 150 rms.

infoaudio,

Do not put any diodes inline when connecting an LOC.  An audio signal is basically an AC waveform of sorts, so if you install a diode, you'll get a pulsating DC signal to the amp- only half of the audio signal.  This makes no practical sense.

not to be rude but may i ask why anyone would use a diode inline wiht a loc i wouldent undetstad the logic behine using a dioe since it woulent be needed but im sure somepeople have done that before but i dont see why they woul think it might help

Maybe he thought it would "isolate" it from the speakers- but it would actually cut your audio signal in half and sound horrible.
