I have a kdc-x889 HU and I am going to run two cross overs without an amp and one amp to the subs. Now in my harness I have several wires that I am not familiar with. Here is a link to the manual, the wiring harness pictures is almost at the end. Can you help me figure it out? Wich wire goes where? Thank you. ftp://inform.kenwoodusa.com/MANUALS/kdcx889.pdf

I can't pull up your link. Is the deck already installed? You wrote that you'll be running two crossovers without an amp- are they passive? ------------- My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

They came with my components. Polk Audio DB5250. I don't know if the crossovers are passive to be honest with you. I have installed the HU after some trial and error. The wire I connected to the remote turn on was incorrect. It was only putting out .02 volts. I used a dmm to figure out wich one was the power antenna and found it and used to power up my amp. Should I use an amp with hte components? Could I just plug them to my HU? Can I just draw some power from my constant 12 volt or acc wires to power up the cross overs?

Most of the time you'll want to power components with an external amp. It all depends on how you like the sound without an amp.

Ok, that makes much more sense. You can run them off the deck for now. If you decide the sub overpowers the components you can always add another amp to run them as well. Coming out of the radio, you'll connect the outputs to the crossovers. From the crossovers, you'll connect the mids and tweeters. Your set should have come with some wires. Do you know where you want your tweeters to go- are they replacing factory tweeters? If the tweeters are going in the doors, see if there's a place you can put your crossover as well. You'll want them on the inside of the plastic water shield, so they don't get wet. If your tweeters are not going in the doors, but in the dash or a-pillars, connect the crossovers inside, using the factory wires to power the mids, and run your new wires up to the tweeters. ------------- My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

That's a loaded question. I'd say hook up the equipment you have now. If you feel it is lacking, go have a look around the stores. This way you can demo, and find something that will work for you, within your given price range. ------------- My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

maybe like $250? I mean if i can get a $80-$100 that would work just fine then I would. Not need to over spend. I would prefer something that does have made a name of themselves. Nothing too cheap, hahaha.

What I meant was to go look around the stores in your area, and give the gear in your price range a try. Demo as much as you can until you find something that suits you. It's been said before, but what sounds good to you may not sound good to the next guy. Keep that in mind. I stick to name brand equipment as well, but I don't want to start any name calling wars. This brand is better than that brand- etc.
