Check to see if your amp is shutting off or going into protect when this happens- you may have your gain set too high.  Is the amp hot?

If the amp is not cutting out, or going into protect, double check the wiring- it's possible there's a wire that came loose.  If not, disconnect the sub from your amp, and try to ohm it out to test for continuity.

Check to see if your amp is in protect. Or if you blew a fuse.

interesting to see an l7 blow like that.....we have fed over 1500rms inot one and they keep kickin!    I would check you amp, if that is fine, check you connections on the sub, something might have came lose.    measure the coils with a Dmm to verify a blown coil

hrmm..that sounds like another buddy who came to the shop i used to work at...he had the pioneer 1000 watt amp (gm-510 or something like that) and had the new L7 in  a  prefab box and came back a week later with no bass...the coil seperated inside from the cone and stopped moving...but when you pushed on the cone, you never heard a thing. same as when your wired up another amp. put the meter on it and found out the coil was gone

First of all the 12" L7 can take 750w RMS continuously and 1500w MAX! You cant push any speaker and not blow it by underpowering it unless you keep the volume down. I hear these stories all the time of people saying they blew their 1000w MAX/500w RMS subwoofer with a 100w amp. That 100w amp probably only puts out like 50w rms. So to make the sub loud your instinct is to turn it up loud and turn the bass all they way up...I bet it'll sound horrible. Your feeding a lot of useless "distorting" power, way over the amplifiers RMS range. Thats exactly why you blew it up. I have two 15" L5s on a 2000w rms amp and they slam and sound beautiful. Nice deep bass with no distortion at all. So next time you buy an amp you might want to make sure it meets your subwoofers power handling.

actually i have a jbl 1200.1 but i let my freind borrow it and i was using his 600.1 until he bought his other amps. ya the gain on his amp was all the way up, could this have blown the sub. also im about to purchase a new amp for my subs. im wanting either the memphis 1500D or maybe even a kx1200.1 per each 12. is this too much ? thanks

Ive seen a Kicker KX1200 push 1500 rms so go with the Kicker. Memphis is also nice, just watch out with impedence loads. Id go with the Kicker though.

"i was playing it for like 30 mins pretty hard and then it just stopped playing". This is the reason that it blew. While the gain may have been set a little or a lot high and sending a clipped signal into the sub in the first place, it has nothing to do with the amount of power used. It has to do with heat. You did not allow the sub to cool down and something has let go. Heat is the #1 killer of subwoofers.
