hey, someone recently felt it necisary to shatter my window, and steal all my audio stuff. Insurance isnt giving me squat other than a new window. I need some ideas for what to build now. It will be in a custom down firing box that i will build myself, and i want to try and spend no more than 7/800 on the sub/subs and amp.

I was thinking of doing infinity 12.1d's originally (2 12s), but then got the idea of just doing a single sub, maybe a big 15, or something. And eclipse titanium speakers came to mind, a w7 maybe. just want some advice of what to get, what people think is good.

for an amp i want something that has a remote compatability (the thefts kept my wired remote for my punch amp in there, so i could still even use that if the amp doesnt come with one. but it n eeds to be atleast 18/db octave gains on the amp. I was looking at the pheonix gold Xenon600.1 amp, maybe a jl 500/1. just want you guys to talk about what you have experienced with mid priced subs and amps. thanks :-D

Im assuming since you're talking about a down fireing box you have a silverado or something like that.  I would consider your depth issue, because you probably wont be able to fit a 15 in there.  If your looking for subs that have bad ass SQL I would go with image dynamics.  Their subs arent very deep and they are damn loud.  I have 1 8" ID in my hatch in a .9 cube ported box and its awsome.

Thanks for the input. I have a 99 blazer. I want to downfire it cause I dont want people walking by to see the nice sub/subs that i will have and want to break into it again. and the downfiring sub would be hidden for the most part. I will definatly check out some image dynamic stuff, and I appreciate the input.

I also need to post about the remote bass knobs. I have my old Rockford knob still installed and wired to the back, and know alot of amps have the phone plug type connection to the remote adjustable knob, but sell it separately, I need to find out if my rockford knob will work with other amplifiers. thanks alpinejedi, and i hope others can give some more advice.

Hey this insurence for setero equipment leads me to some questions. I enter my truck into comps frequently and I am sponsored and I dont want my equipment taken by people who dont knoow what the meaning of work is. Well if anyone could tell me how I can go about getting insurence on my equipment or if I can add it to my existing geico policy please let me now

Thank You

Bolting down wasnt the issue. Full coverage with allstate i believe. homeowners will probably cover it, same thing happened with my uncle and some ski equipment he had. window just got fixed, but the god damn window people didnt vacuum the glass out of the door, haha, now i need to rip apart the door for another time. yay.

Full coverage still doesn't cover aftermarket equipment, especially with Allstate. I had switched to them and had a copy of my previous insurance policy. They "said" that they duplicated the policy, including the stereo rider. 2 months later and approx $7000 worth of equipment lost, well what can I say. I hate Allstate.

my insurance company will cover my stere as long as i provide recipts and sign a paper saying i don't use it for competitions....which i'd like to argue that...it's less likely to get stolen at a stereo competition then on the street, and once you drive by with the music up everyone knows you have something.

Get that in writing from the agent in plain english. The said $7000 worth of equipment I mention was stolen the night of/after a competition.
