don't buy it.

trust me, i've gone through a sony head unit, amp, 6x9's, 2 10's a 15 ... and the list goes on. i would rahter build my own components  than ever having a sony product touch my car again.

my 15 cracked from the bass, the wires running to the voice coil form the terminals on my 10's started on fire, and no they weren't over powered, when i pounded them to hard it made my car smell like old urinal cakes, damn voice coils are horrible. they can't even handle the power of a SONY amp, which i went through 4 of, all just cut out for nooo reason. if you do decide to buy that package, be a smart guy and buy the biggest warantee they offer. oh and the plastic that sperated the + and - terminals on my old amp melted. yea... needless to say it was a pretty awful sight to see an amp go up in smoke.

Like every one else says when it comes to car audio stay away from Sony Xplod I think it got its name for a good reason. Plus do these look about the same

I think the second one is a much better buy. Just kidding I wouldn’t waste my money on either set up (not trying to put you down) What kind of set up are you looking for SQ, SPL or a little of both? Also what is your price range?

Im gonna agree with everyone else and say that Sony products are junk, you couldnt pay me to put their products in my car.  Run Alpine or Rockford thats where its at, I have a decent Alpine head unit CDA-7875, 6 1/2" Type R components both front and rear, a 15" (Running on a Rockford BD 1500.1) and two 10" (Running on a Rockford BD 1000.1) Type R subs.  Ive never had a problem with anything by either company, well other than the fact that its really loud.

haha, i was looking at that sony site again, notice how the first line of the promotion is "SoundDomain.com has an posted_image "Xplo-sive" posted_image deal on great Sony Xplod bass gear!" , and holy #%^$ ih8tktz, that must move. i think saying it's really loud is a pretty big understatement, how many db's can you hit?

when I first had it installed I was hitting 162.4 DB then we changed things around a bit now the 15" is at the front of the trunk on a 45 degree to fire off the rear hatch and the 10" are in separate enclosures on either side of the trunk at the rear at about a 65 degree angle firing up to the front, and it hits a lot harder.  But im yet to have it tested, but definitely after christmas it will happen.  I will put the results up then.

Unfortunately I have an Xplod HU in my Mustang.  When I get the money it will be replaced with Alpine or Rockford.  Sony's have an inherrent problem of skipping at high bass levels, even with a backstrap.  STAY AWAY from Sony XPLOD if you can afford it!

I was looking at an xpod head unit, a cdx mp30. Are they ok for an average user, or is it not very good at all? All I want is cd/mp3 playback with no extra speakers amps etc. posted_image

I'd be buying it from ebay, costs less than half of local prices. Should I stay clear?

Thanks for reading

Mark

yay rockford! my whole CAR got stolen, they found it in 1 piece with no damage, expect my system was STRIPED down the the power wire! posted_image now i have a jvc deck, i love it, but i use to have a rfx 9000, not the pritiest deck around, but man did it performe. i decided after my car got molested by thiefs that i wasn't going to replace everything cuz i didn't want to ask for it to get stolen again, so i kinda "downsized" (if u can call 3 jl's a downsize lol) but ya, my point i guess is if i were to go all out again, i would definatly do rockford.

I would not even waste my time with anything as far as Sony car audio goes. I would not buy Rockford, Kicker, MTX either. Oh by the way I forgot to mention I would NOT BUY JL Audio either. I hate JL.

If you want a great deck for the money then you can pick up the Clarion HX-D10 (699.00) HU for about 300$ from Crutchfield who gives you the wiring and so on. You can find it for about 273$ from other places but they will not give you the kit to install it yourself.

If I was you I woul also give a look into Infinity, Adire Audio, Image Dynamics and a couple other companies if your on a budget but if you want great sound and aren't too worried about money then go ahead and get Focal or Audiomobile and a few other brands. But just up to you.

DON'T TOUCH SONY!!

But hey what would I know. posted_image
