i would look at getting the alpine type x 6 1/2 componets.....they r not every much higher on cost and they have a very good dynamic range.  I have ran them in a 2000 silverado and they sound great and had lots of bass.

Uhh. I'd take *anything* made by CDT over *anything* made by Alpine seriously.

Cheesy chinese speakers or hand-made in California? huh... tough choice..

Well, the real question here is can you listen to them in person? That way you can be the judge of sound, the important factor here.

Well, CDT tends to be the more respected brand. However comparing the specs there are some differences. The frequency response of the two differs, the Alpine claims a broader range but requires less power. The alpine appears to be a coaxial, where the CDT is a true component set.

Nothing beats buying speakers with out listening to them first, frustrating ain't it?

I'd stick with CDT.  What amp are you powering the components with?  That might help in your decision.

That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

Uh no whoever said 'CDT's lack midbass' is a bad-installer, deaf, or both.

In fact, one of the most outstanding features of CDT's is the warm, generous helpings of midrange they dole out... a very *thick* midrange seriously. Generally, the stock tweeter setting on the xover (at least, the 3 different CDT passive xovers I've had a chance to play with) is, quite opposite from the shrill Alpine or Quart speaker, often almost underwhelming at first... adding just the slightest velvety touch of top end to the sound... not that aggressive, mass-marketed 'hot' sound your probably more used to.

In case you're wondering my CDT's are installed against closed cell weather stripping and a 1/2" MDF baffle bolted to the frame. That is to say... 'done right.' Flat out warmest midbasses I've *ever* used...
