Good Afternoon,

I plan to install a custom box and a Kenwood 9102D Amp. I have a 2004 Dodoge Ram Quad Cab w/ Infinity radio. I want to keep the stock radio (sounds prettty good) and keep the steering wheel controls.

The 9102D has speaker level inputs, so my queation is does this have an AMP built in being the infinity 7 speakers? Should I tap into the speakers for the line inputs at the radio before the stock AMP? I also believe there is an AMP line I can use to power the 9102D remote lead form the stock radio.

Any suggestions appreaciated,

Tampa77

I would test the outputs from the factory headunit first- some new dodge headunits have a fixed output to the factory amp, and it is actually the amp itself that does fading/volume control/etc.

Play a cd with a test tone, set your meter to ac volts, and check for varying output on the headunit outputs as you play with the volume, fade, and balance.  If you get a varying voltage, you can just splice in before the factory amp.  This would be preferred because it will offer you a cleaner signal, and the factory amp has all the crossovers built in, so you may not find a good low pass signal after it.
