I'm just curious if your speaker/subwoofer are still able to clip even after setting your gains properly. The method I used was to play sine waves at 0dB, have the HU flat everything except bass @ +15, volume @ 25/35.. set the gain from there until i hear distortion and tuned down from there. plays fine but at times i don't think i here enough bass so i but my fader more towards the rear and increase the bass maby to +1 or +2 max i don't have rears btw, just component frontts and subwoofer. So back to the question is if it is still possible to have your speakers/subwoofer clip even when boosting the bass from your HU by using the fader and bass settings?

if it clips, it isnt set properly.. you should adjust the gain with boost, and everything as high as you ever have it.

The boost at the deck can absolutly clip the system, you are changing the signal and hence changing how the gain should be set. As said above, set the deck to the Max levels you ever run at and set it from their. Also you didnt nessasarily set the gain the PROPER way, you set it the quick way that a person uses when they dont have a multimeter handy.
