Hey Folks,

After listening to the advice from the folks here at 12volt. I got a new JL Audio 300/4 Amp for my 1997 Expedition. One problem, when I plugged the power wires in the amp (Power, Ground, Remote), the Power light on the 300/4 Blinks every 3 seconds. I checked the power wires and everything seemed fine, I wired the speakers into one channel to see if it still functions and no sound came out from that channel. I am not sure what else to check for.

Thank you for your help.

How did you check your power wire? What you need to do is take a multimeter and check the power for 12v, then turn the vehicle and stereo on and check the remote for 12 volts. Then you need to recheck your ground and be sure that it is tight and properly grounded. If all these check out then its pretty much gaurenteed that you have a defective amp.

Thanks for the information. I believe it was the positive battery terminal that was the problem. It was heavily covered with acid. After thorough cleaning, Amp works great.

Thanks.
