i've read all the post on tuning a port but is there a formula i'm missing. i see people getting all these numbers but no calculations. I have 2 pioneer premier ts-w5000spl and want to put them in a vented(slot ported) enclosure. the specs on the sub are:
FS: 32.2
QTS: .320
QMS 8.599
QES: .332
VAS: 1.092 cu
RMS: 9.010
MMS: 348.42
BL: 37.378
Sensitivity: 89
The box is going to be pretty small in a wedge shape 13.5 " wide, 18" deep, 18 in height in the front and 16 in the rear. with the port on the bottom in the front. Can it be done with this size box.
each sub will have it's own enclosure. the amps are directed 2400d's with the subsonic filter on.
can anyone recommend a frenquency to tune it to for this size enclosure. and any suggestions for building it.
You see people getting "all these numbers" because they're working it up in a computer program, for the most part. You should take the next step and do the same. Start by reading the WinISD guide stickied here and following along...which includes downloading the program.
But the very first thing you need to do is be able to figure cubic feet of your box size. This site has great box calculators. You've been a member from just about day one, so I imagine you know where everything is. You'll find more calculators in the guide and in the WinISD links that are referred to there.

I found what i think i'm looking for i can up with tuning it to 38hz with a slot port that's 2" in height and 12" wide and 15" deep. how does that sound. and the box size is 1.776 cu ft. with 3/4 mdf and a double sheet on the front of the box for the sub.

fill the numbers you have and click the Calculate Panel Dimensions button and it will draw a box for you with the numbers you have enter and give you other dimension on how to make the box. hope it help you a bit more.
