My question is this a good vented enclosure design that my friended designed for my audiopipe ts-a12 i was just wondering

And i greatly appreciate you thoughts on it

If he properly determined the volume and port specifications using the driver's T/S parameters, it sure could be. Why don't you download WinISD and see if he's close? (See WinISD sticky, top of "car audio" page).

It could be better just from what I'm looking at here.  This design has the port bended through 90 degree corners four times.  That could be reduced easily to one 90 degree bend by building the slot port straight along the back of the box.  The other error I am seeing is that the port is reduced to 2" in those bends when the port diameter is 2.5".  There cannot be any part of that port structure restricted to less than 2.5".

But stevdart would the four 90 degree corners reduce anything on how the box will sound and i plotted it in WinISD and is give a good Transfer magnitude and rear velocity and cone excursion

Oh and thanks for resizing the pic and your input on the design

WinISD doesn't know how many bends the port goes through.  It only knows the dimensional port size.  Good to see you are using the tools you need for vented enclosures.  It doesn't seem like you need a friend to design your box. (??) 

Use as few bends as possible and try to keep the port opening as far from the driver (on the inside of the box) as you can.  If you can run this port down the side and along the back, that would be the best way.  One bend.

I would probably do something like this, which smooths the bend.  Measure length through the center.

Also, I double-checked the math on the port volume because I wanted to remind you to deduct that from the box volume to find the proper response in WinISD.  The actual air dedicated to the drivers does not include the air in the port...and the walls that are built to contain the port take up displacement as well.  You have to find the total volume of the port structure and deduct that total from the box internal volume.  That becomes the new box volume.

By checking the port volume for the simplified diagram I posted, and with your specs as given, the port volume is .9 cu ft.  I would add a bit to that if you slant it at the bend as shown.  That math is:  port height X port width including baffle X port length.  Divide cubic inches by 1728 to get cubic feet.  Reduce the port length by 3/4" for the thickness of the front baffle which the port goes through.

Use inside box dimensions.  Your diagram is not clear whether the measurements are inside or outside.

Stevdart i used the old WinIsd to figure out the height , width and depth the beta version i use the port volume which i calculated in side using the cube box calculator in this site 13.5 x 2.5 x 35.6 and it gave me .49 for port volume and i was using 2 ft^3 for the box so i add it up to get 2.49ft^3 and when i use the old WinISD i put in the size of MDF which was 3/4 inch and it gave me the results 14Hx15Dx27W

Ok let's say we drop the frequency to 25hz and we get a port lenght of 53.4 can we use the port design on the diagram that my friend has

JUst curious on how would this affect the BASS

O i forgot i calculate the port volume for 25 hz to ge .49ft^3 if it was 30 hz the port volume would have been smaller .24ft^3

Here's the message i'm trying to put across to you and then I'll be done.  Double-check your math.  Know that a port volume includes the port walls when it comes to finding total displacement.  Avoid multiple turns and bends in the port.
