i just got a 1 FARAD capacitor w/ voltage display from my friend.

i connected a wire from the battery`s positive to the cap`s positive , and another wire from cap`s (+) to the amp. and then a wire from the car chassis to the cap`s (-) and then another wire from the cap`s (-) to amp (-).

A spark come up and then the voltage display show the voltage is around 12.7-12.8 but after like few seconds the display stop showing anything. so i dont know whether the capacitor is working or not.

what would be the problem? wrong connection?

I am not sure whether the cap charged probably or not.

Should i discharge and charge it again?

Also, i havnt got the resistor/bulb then suppose to come with it in the package for charging/discharging. Anything that i can use instead?

Return the cap to your friend for a refund.  See this thread to find alternative charging methods.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
