OK,here's my problem,when i turn down the Bass volume on my EQ/preamp the mids and highs sounds great at high volume,but when i turn up the Bass the mids and highs make a "clip" sound,why the system do that?

do you have a high pass filter set for the smaller speakers? what sizes are your speakers?

What you are hearing is most likely not clipping but the speakers reaching their mechanical limits (Xmech.) This is commonly called "bottoming out." You will destroy them if you keep operating like this. As suggested above, you need to use a high-pass filter to protect the small speakers from too much power at low frequencies. ------------- Support the12volt.com

The preamp has a high-pass filter,its rare because in the preamp i turn down the bass knob(SUBS ONLY),push up tjhe volume in the headunit and the mids and highs sound great,leaving the volume at that level i push up the bass knob(subs only) and the mids and highs starts to make the clip sound,why my system is doing that if i have low and high pass filters?

Where are the main speakers mounted in relation to the subs? Plus, are you certain the "bass" control is only affecting the subs? How do you know this? ------------- Support the12volt.com

It's a Suzuki hatchback,the subs are facing up and the mids and highs are in the doors and the rear mids are in the rear side panels.The EQ/preamp has a subout that has its own sub volume.i know it's not the EQ because i tested without it,the headunit is a Alpine CDA-7893,next thing i will test another amp...
