Ok im a new guy here and know what i like but not how to get it. Well my system DID sound clean before, it consisted of a Pioneer AVH-P6600DVD H/U, Pioneer 4-ways in the doors and quarters, (2) 12" Alpine type R's in a small sealed dual chamber box, a Directed 1100D for the bass, and a Directed 4200 for the highs, 4AGW wiring, all this in a convertible 94 GT mustang. Well with this system the bass was nice clean and smooth, round two came when i had the guy dynamat my trunk, add the 4AGW, change my H/U to a Premier Pioneer DEH-P770MP and a Premier Pioneer AVX-P8 monitor, after that day the bass NEVER hit as clean and smooth anymore, is it the HU??? before i gad Fosgate 8AGW wiring and what he put was some cheap ass no name brand wiring that is ALL insulation...iit looks as if the 8 ga had just as many stransa as that 4ga, is that where the problem lies? also i went to another shop and they said his amp grounds were WAY too long, something like 4 feet or so so i cut down the sub ground wire and made it like 10" and it didn't sound much better, well i have also gone though a few other HU's...a Alpine CDA-9833, a Pioneer DEH-P680MP. What gives, is it the wiring? the HU? are my amps or subs shot? it cant be the box as it did sound the way i wanted at one piont, did the dynamat do it? i thought it was supposed to help. By the way i ordered and recieved my new knuconcepts.com 4AGW Kolososs power and ground wire, will that make a difference? if not what is a good shop around the Rancho Cucamonga area to take my car too?

Rancho ahh I live in Pasadena and was out in that area yesterday. Anywho besides the point.. The Wires should help but not by much. The problem most likely is the dynamt as it does what it is supposed to and "deadens" the sound. While it is good to put it in the trunk to help rattles it also effects how the sound is heard in the cabin of the car. You can think of it like this, you have the subs in a box, which are in another box as the trunk is sealed from the cabin of the mustangs interior. Try figuring out if the guy dynamatted between the cabin and the seats. Considering this is a convertible and I happen to know about Mustangs. . . lol . . . There is no way to flip the seats down, but if he happened to dynamat in that area it will deaden the sound that will try to escape into the cabin. Also having the top down can add to the deadening, so you are not going crazy. If you have any other questions just post em up.

There is only dynamat on the trunk lid, on some of the bottom where the spare tire used to be, some on the inner quarter skins, and on the back side where the tailights are...it isnt a crazy all out trunk sealing job just tried to get enough to stop the rattling, nothing by the rear seats. Pasadena huh, thats close, what kinda mustang do you have? so the dynamat is my problem??? what other options are there to stop the mustang trunk from rattling?

Disconnect one sub only and tell me what happens. Did you pull out the box etc. to do your deadening?

I'll venture that what you heard before was a combo of the subs and the resonances of your trunk, and now your trunk resonances are partially dampened. I'd say the Dynamat is not the problem, it SOLVED a problem that you did not know you had, and that apparently you enjoyed the sound of. Your sheet metal was vibrating and now that it's not so much you can actually hear the clean output from your subs. ------------- Support the12volt.com

lol funny but yet its always the true things that are the funniest. I have a 2001 All black GT Convertible.
