I am looking to buy new subs and an amp, i just got into subs last year and my first setup was/is 2 infinity perfect 12.1's and a profile Ap 2000 amp. I put them in a double 12" box that i bought from circuit city. I am looking to upgrade, like i said, and was looking into hifonics, crossifre and eclipse. I want my system to be loud but im not looking for it to be competition or anyhting, i guess im looknig for the best cost-sound ratio. Im not on a really tight budget, however money is limited. Any opinions/help would be appreciated

slow down and take some time to really plan your system you will be alot happier with the results.

what is your exact budget, and what exactly are you looking to change?

my suggestion would be to first build a different box and tailor the new box to the specs of the subs. start there as its going to be the cheapest and probably biggest bang for your buck solution.

Also, narrow your amplifier quality window a bit... HiFonics and Crossfire don't even belong in the same sentence with Eclipse.

The Eclipse is so much more amp than the others, in both musicality and reliability. I'd go there before I went with either of the other two... In fact, I'd PAY for Eclipse before I'd let someone give me the others...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Upgrading from Infinity Kappa Perfect 12's? What didn't you like about them? My friend had two 10's and I thought the SQ was prettttty dang good. I guess they're not the loudest but they sure do sound clean.

if you arnt planning on winning comps and want good sq your perfects are fine for what you listen to. build yourself a new box and tune it properly like others said. a friend of mine had the reference line of infinity and they where pritty good sq wise, the perfects should be even better then that.

The infinity's do sound pretty good, i was recomended them by my friend because i used to only listen to rock music and he said they would sound better for that type of music, but recently I've been listening to some more rap and some other music. I was deabting on buying eclipse titanium subs. I think, and i will check this in a second, they were the SW9122 and to power them i believe it was the DA 7232 amp. As far as budget goes i jsut work at a little pizza palce not makin a whole lot of money but id say what i want to spend is around 2,000 tops maybe 2,500 if i really need to, but im just lookin for somethin I'll be happy with for a couple years to keep me from being curious about other setups. Other setup i looked at was 2 hifonics brutus and the XX colossus II. Im still new in subs so this might be a dumb question but why shouldn't crossifre-hifonics and eclipse be in the same catagory?

Definatly build a custom box that is designed for the perfects.  The pre-fab boxes dont do them any justice.  If you can afford it go for the eclipse amp, they dont disapoint and are well worth the extra money.  Even designing a better box with the amp youve already got will usually provide a noticable difference

Thanks for all the help so far. I will definitly take the time to go thru and make a good box, i attempted to make a box for my first setup but it turned out pretty bad, i made it in a hurry. I just need to read some of the existing forums on how to properly build a box the sub will preform well in. I think ive decided on getting an the eclipse 12" titanium powered with the DA 7122 amp, i think thats the numbers. Anyways as a final question i am also looking into buying a new car and im considering buying a new honda civic or my freinds cousins early 90's mustang. Now, one of my other friends had told me that a titanium sub can possibly blow out that window if i were to buy the mustang. Is this something that could realistically happen? And if so is there a different sub/amp combo i should consider.

Nope. It's extremely difficult to create enough sound pressure to break windows like that. I actually recently watched the MythBusters where they tried tackling this and were unsuccessful. With your setup you will not have to worry about breaking any windows.
