I've got a 98 Jetta with a stock VW stereo cassette deck and I'd like to put in a CD player.  So, I was wondering:

1) How to remove the stock deck from the dash  (I know it has something to do with the 4 small holes on the face of the stereo)

2) Do I need any special tools?

3) Besides a wiring harness and antenna adapter, do I need any other brackets?

thanks!

You would need to buy a set of ford radio removal keys.  They are about 6 bucks at a checker or autozone.  Just stick the keys in the hole till you feel a click and push them outwards and pull.  You shouldn't need any thing else for your install besides the wiring kit and the antenna adapter.

Yeah its a pretty simple process. Just get the removal tools which are shaped like a U. Buy the wiring harness and the antenna adapter. The wiring harness will be color coded to the aftermarket radio. Make sure you make good connections with either solder ot butt connectors and your radio will give you no problems.
