Subject: Need Advice on SQ Setup

I need some advice on a good sq setup, im not like most that say i want it to get loud AND sound sound good. I just want great sound quality, pure and simple.
I was thinking about doing an SPL setup, but me and my ears have gotten along good so far, why ruin a great thing? I am planning on getting an Eclipse CD3000 to start off, but other than that im stumped.
Im now working to just buy my amp and sub right now. I dont really wanna spend more than 1500 for one sub amd and sub. Also I would like to compete in the 1-600 watts category in sq, so im not looking for a watt pumping mad amp, im looking for PURE SQ.
Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated expescially those that have done sq comps. Also any opinions on the HU would be fine as well as i am just mapping the system out currently Thanks in advance

sorry the sentence "I dont really wanna spend more than 1500 for one sub amd and sub." should read "I dont really wanna spend more than 1500 for one sub amp and sub".

I'd start with the CD5000, rather than the 3000. More features, and likely better sound quality. It's the deck in my car. (Actually, last year's model number - 8455)

Also, the Eclipse XA amplifiers are SPECTACULAR sounding amps, with gobs of power at the fingertips, and there is a 5 channel available soon (if not, already).

If you don't want to wait, get a 4 channel and one of the single channel amplifiers. (Personally, this is the way I'd do it...)

Call 800-55-ECLIPSE, and enter your zip code, and it'll connect you RIGHT to to closest Eclipse dealer.

Or call Rob. The 5 channel XA5000 is one kick butt amplifier, at 4 ohm rating it is 50w x 4 and 300w x 1 but it also lies through it's teeth and produces more than that. The sub channel for example is a minimum of 450w rms into a 2 ohm load, so a single good sub or a pair of subs can easily be had.

Now, this 5 channel amp will allow you to stay in the power class that you are after. If you go out of it, the 4 channel and mono amp from Eclipse in the XA series will land you at 125w rms x 4 and 320w rms x 1 (again into a 4 ohm load) so kiss the 600w and under rating good bye. Even with the sub amp loaded down to 2 ohm, it will come in around the 480w rms mark at minimum, not far off the 5th channel on the XA5000. If you need the far more power on the front / rear speakers, then sure go for it. Otherwise the 5 channel is a great amp for a tonally balanced system.

I too would upgrade into the CD5000.

Thanks the great advice Forbidden,Heamphyst, and nouse! I know im defianetly going to go with the cd5000 to have more   sound quality and equalization to work with. Any sub recommendations? How are those aura working for you haemphyst? Now correct me if im wrong but dont they take the rms rating from your amps based on a 4 ohm load? For example if i had a 400w x 1 @ 4 ohm amp even if i run it at a one ohm load i will still say in the 1-600watt class because the amp is under 600 @ a 4 ohm load? This is how i interperted it in a car audi mag i was reading. Once again thanks for all your great help. I check this website almost daily, just to see whats going on. I love this place! lol. Anyways if i dont decide to compete, I still want a faboulous sounding system, thats all i care about.

The Aura is actually my computer subwoofer...

The woofers I am putting into my car presently are a pair of TC Sounds TC1000 10 inch DVC, with the Eclipse DA7232 2kW amplifier. Should do pretty well, I'm thinking. posted_image In your case, I think a TC1000 DVC 12 would do well...

I too am an SQ nut. Look through some of the other posts I've done, and you'll see this very quickly!

Oh ok, maybe should have paid better attention but when i read that i was pretty damn drunk. Thats why I was thinking was TC Sounds. Mayber paired with a Eclipse XA1000. Sounds like a nice combination to me.posted_image Now all I gotta do is decide on some components.

you cant go wrong with tc sounds as good all around subwoofers. i would go with two 10" tc-1000 or if you want a little more boom i'd go with the 12", sealed box for best SQ (even with ported they sound really good and are louder!) and an eclipse amp and HU.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

  Huuuu NO! The CD8445 is = to the CD5000, CD8455 = CD7000

Typo... Sorry! My deck is the 8445, NOT the 8455. My bad! posted_image Good catch!
