Heres the strange deal,

2001 Tahoe new Panasonic head unit works fine when it’s a warm summer day but come winter time it just randomly resets, shuts off, and comes back on. I have an identical head unit in another vehicle so I swapped them and re wired the harness to make sure there were no loose wires. Does same thing in the Tahoe with new unit and the original one works fine in the other vehicle. I know that Tahoe has a factory amp but I don’t think it controls the power to the unit just the speakers. Anyone have similar problems or maybe something for me to try, im at a loss and my wife is really getting mad.

Thanks

There are problems in some of these trucks with an intermittent battery feed to the radio. Install a new fused wire from either the red or RED / white wire in the ignition harness for the battery power to the radio. Run a new ground wire from the radio to the vehicle chassis. Locate the battery ground cable where it attaches to the frame/bumper (above and to the left of the driver's side tow hook) and clean up the ground terminals. The main ground at this point is always bad. Replace the bolt securing both cables and clean all contacts. If the problem still persists, you probably need a new battery. Have a load test done on yours.
