I have a BMW 2001 5 series in the bay that has DSP. I can't to get any sound out of the factory amp. We get it to turn on with the thin white turn on lead but no sound. Reinstalled the factory haed and it works fine.

Is it a digital signal from the HU to the amp?

That's what I'm guessing. Metra tech was like going thru a root canal, asking me to wire around an amp with built in cross overs.

It is actually digital audio from the factory head unit to the factory amp. If you pull the head unit you gotta rewire around the amp.
