i have a ma audio hk4000 it says it can do 4000rms at 2ohm operation how do i know if thats true or not i mean the systems loud as hell but i just wanna know the rms that im getting to each sub
MA Audio? It ISN'T 4kW - period. The only way I know of would be with a current transformer, clipped around ONE lead of the woofer wires. Once you know the current being pulled, you can then figure the voltage across your known impedance, and figure the power from there, using Ohm's Law.

unless you have 4 16 volt batterys and 2 alternators to power that amp you will not get 4000+ watts from it
maybe half with 2 gel cells and a large 12 volt alt.
maybe 1200 with a single battery and stock alt

We all know that energy is neither created or destroyed. We also know that most vehicles today operate on 12/14 volt system. What is the fuse size of that amplifier? For example, if that amp has a 60 amp fuse in it the max power consumed will be 14 X 60 = 840 watts. I have not seen any amps built that does not dissapate heat, so the output of the amp in this example will never reach 840 watts.
