I have a 1990 Chevy Corsica with a sealed enclosure with a divider and a Crunch 250.2 1,000 watt peak amp. I blew out my Lanzar Max12D somehow, i think they got overpowered, all the settings were all the way down when they were hooked up but they still blew out soon after install. We wired the amp into a friends car and it ran fine, so i know for sure it was the subs. Does anyone have a better idea of what happened? I can provide more info if needed.
Secondly I think I'm going to be buying bigger subs just in case, any suggestions for around $100 for a sealed box and the crunch amp?
what likely blew your sub was the distortion that that lovely amp is capable of.
I would consider a new amp as well as a new woofer before going any further.
That crunch amp would be hardly capable of 200 Watts RMS let alone the 500 it says
I know you said everything was turned down, but with that amp with the gain and everything else turned down you would likely get 50 watts RMS if that
Time to upgrade

When you get new stuff put the box as far back in the trunk as possible. And by back I mean towards the taillights. I've done a lot of work on berettas and corsicas and that is definitely the best place in the trunk to put the box.

Hifonics ZXi1006 amp
MB quarts all around and a Panasonic up front. You wanted to know don't lie...
I was already thinking about kickers, but I was leaning towards the 12" comp-vr's instead of the 15", have you had any expirience with those (good or bad)
Hey thanks TeddyKGB, we've moved the box up front in a few of my friends' cars and it did seem louder, but I built the box to fit righ into the back (facing trunk) between the fenders. Once I get my stuff running again I think i will try it farther up to the front though if it does seem to help.
