it all depends on the enclosure, the vehicle, the charging system, the builder

You can tell your friends I was capable of 160.6 with 10L7's

The last setup I built with a single 18 solo X and 1 2500.1 in a scion XB was capable of 154.1db

(2) 12 L7's is capable of over 150db, but not for daily listening...for competition use only.

The achieve over 150DB using music alone is quite a task, and will require a huge upgrade to your charging system, and likely 4 12 L7's

Almost all competiton setups are set for using a 3 second burst tone only, normally tuned quite high 45-50hz range.

If you attempted to play music you would likely cause damage to woofers with a setup like this.

There is a format of competiton where you use music for a 30 second average of your SPL reading.    It is alot harder to do, because of the stress on equipment and keeping good current supply to amps for that long

Are you planing on running in a competiton or how are you metering your systems to see how loud they are.

Usaci, DbDrag, and most other major organizations use the term-lab meter and that is what I use and own.

Let me know how you intend to meter your equipmentment and if you are going to compete or looking for something loud for daily driving and I can help you alot better

Also, one thing I have noticed, is that deep tuned enclosures like that, are NOT capable of extreme outputs... you run out of excursion (or just plain run out of power...) before you can achieve those levels. To tune that low, when using bursts of 45-50Hz is really quite a waste, IMO, and to tune that high, and have to filter it all out BELOW that frequency is ALSO a waste - there is MUCH musical information below 40Hz.

You really need to decide WHAT your priorities are in this system. 150dB in a daily driver, or everyday system, is a HUGE HUGE HUGE undertaking.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

i was looking into buying an 18soloX for a celica hatchback, jeff told me to tune it to about 40hz i believe and give it at least 8000 watts. i want this for daily driving but for the cost of this sub i could go out and buy like 6 L7's. which would i be happier with as far as being loudest for music listening/daily driver. i want the loudest possible output i can get for daily driving. (im still waiting for a quote for a high output alternator from HO, but going to be running dual alternators to power amps and car.)

For street use here is what I would recomend

box measured 3.65 cu ft internal before port displacement, with a 2.25x13.25x21 inch slot port

You could try both subs in that same enclosure, or build 2 boxes with one sub in each

anyones opinion would be great, whether or not it be for the soloX or the L7's

solo x is a beast.. Have you watched any of the videos on RealmOfExcursion.com of the SOLOX?? It makes this dudes tires shake.. I was debating over an 18" Solo X or two 15" L7's for close to the same price.. Waiting for the subs to come in, will tell you how it goes

With a single 2500.1 I would strongly reccomend 4-6 12" L5's   the 2006 models

These will get as loud and louder then the L7's when you are dealing with lower power per woofer

with 4 12 L5's you would have an rms handling of 2400 which you have the kx2500.1    seams like a perfect combination to me!
