Hi.

I am currently building a system in my car. I have a hydraulics set up which requires a lot of juice from the battery and have decided that I am going to put another battery in the trunk. What would be the best way to wire it so that I can charge it?

Option 1

Wire the two batteries in parallel.

Option 2

Buy a split charging unit which takes the feed from the alternator and feeds it into a relay. The relay then flicks the charge between the two batteries.

I believe that both of these options will work, but which is the best?

i wire my dual battery systems in parallel. just remember to fuse at your battery up front and at the rear in case the wire finds grounds in between. most installers forget to fuse the rear.

you could use an isolator but i dont see it necessary. waste money. oh and youll get more juice to the amps in parallel...

run it till it blows!!! i wanted my civic to blow but it never did for 4 years now. im running a die hard gold up front and a yellow top in the back with a 10 fared cap going to 6 amps. MTX 2 1801D and 4 4202s the doodiety thing is it takes me under 30 seconds to drain the batterys and 15 min. to charge back up so in that sence maybe you would want to upgrade the alt.

what kid of car is that? if its a truck most times it has a decent alt. my civics one is doodoo but it never blew so i wont change it till it does.

If you have hydraulics I would recommend a deep cycle battery and an upgraded alternator...also if the front and rear batteries are not the same I recommend using this inbetween them
