so basically i want to install my rear view camera, and use my screan as a rear view mirror, i know there is alot of beef with having "video" played while driving, what are the 12volts thoughts on having the rear view camera on all the time?

It wouldn't be running all the time if you are using it properly b cause you would normally hook it up to the  reverse wire so it only comes on when the car is put in reverse.

No, I believe he is talking about using a camera and a small monitor in place of a rear view glass mirror. essentially it would be the same thing, but digital. It makes sence to me in the application such as a panel van or other vehicle where you really have limited or no rear view mirror visibility, however, in a vehicle where you do have vision it would seem dumb. cant beat the framerate and clarity of the human eye.

I just think it would be cool to do, im not asking for anyones permission to do this, im simply asking for an opinion, or a comment or if someone on here has done this already.

hi,

yes, done something similar... put a somewhat large flipdown screen in an Escalade, which when down pretty much blocked the view of the interior rear view mirror.  placed a camera pointed out the rear window (up high) which was connected to a small monitor mounted high up by the rear view mirror.  mounted a switch in the flipdown, which when opened/released, triggered the monitor via the reverse lead input.  so yes it can be done.
