i have an alpine mrp-f250 that is currnelty bridged to power a set of components int he front, i want to hook up one 12" sub to it, are the 2 remaining channels available? if so what is the best way to hook up the sub to them?

You say you have it bridged now to run your components so the answer is no. You bridged the 4 channels to 2 so there is nothing leftover for the sub.

If you run the fronts off two of the channels, (in non-bridged mode) then yes, you can do that.

ok so when i unbridge the front speakers and put them on on their own channels, i will have 2 left, the sub is a 4ohm dvc, can i put each coil on a separate channel?

Yeah, with a 4ohm dvc thats the best option you have with that amp, but keep in mind, its only going to be 80 watts total to the sub so.

The better way is to series the coils, then bridge to channels 3 and 4. The sub will receive 80 watts in either scenario but you'll most likely find that this way will provide best sound and output (rather than connecting coils to individual channels). Try both ways if you wish. Let the forum know if one way is a more impactful sound than the other. ------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

just got the model of the sub its a VOLFENHAG ZX4712DVX 12, i picked it up used and its in good shape, do you think my amp will be able to handle it, i am in the market for a new one but it wont kill anything untill i can find a replacement will it?

Well I don't know much about those subs other than the specs I read on it, and they list it at 500 watts rms. Your amp is going to give it 80 watts rms, see anything wrong with this picture? You really need to get a sub amp if you want this sub to perform well for you. On Stevdarts response, I'm a little confused. If he wires the coils in series, that puts it at 8ohms correct? So, with channels 3 & 4 bridged, the amp will put out 80 watts @ 4ohms, believe is what I read, anyways, wouldn't that send less power to the sub? Still figuring out all this wiring stuff.

after taking in all the advice that i received here and doing some research, i am going to add another amp so i can power this sub, the amp i am looking at is a Kenwood KAC-8103D , from reading around here, i know that i am going to need a distobution block , and will have to run new power wire to both amps, i have a few more questions
1.what kind of distro block should i be looking for
2.there is an inline fuse that is set up to the battery for the first amp, wili have to change that fuse to something higher?

You may have to run new wire depending on the size that you have in the vehicle already. What size fuse do you have in there now? What gauge wire?

i was looking at receipts for the existing wiring and it is a 8 gauge now and the current fuse that is near the battery is a 60amp, so if i am not mitaken i am gonna have to change the the power to a 4gauge wire right?
