Im trying to add a little bass to my daily driven beater volvo S90..Im trying to keep costs as low as possibe. I was considering running one Alpine 10" Type-R 4ohm DVC, with an Alpine MRP-M450, wired at 2 ohms which would put it at 400W RMS. In a .65ci sealed inclousre in my trunk. The rest of my setup includes Alpine HU Infinity Reference 5 1/4s front, 6x9s on the rear deck, those speakers driven by Alpine MRP-F250, rear door speakers are 4" refereneces as well powered by bridged internal amp on HU. Should also mention 4 ch is run off speaker level inputs and sub will utilize the only pre out on my CDE-9852

How will that sup and amp setup sound? is the M450 enough to power the type R 10? How much would i gain by using something like say the MRP-M850 wich runs 500x1RMS at 4 ohms i belive...

That amp will power that sub fine...but from my personal experience with Type Rs...they suck in sealed enclosures...I've had a couple Type R 12s both in sealed and ported boxes...I liked the ported sound a lot better...higher output and lower extension.

I'd build or have a custom box built for that Type R...1.5 cu ft net tuned to 35Hz should do it

Azn thats a cool program... what is it? Is it availible for download?

Does it tell you what size the port shoudl be, the depth of it, as well as the box dimensions? Myself and WRX will be building this box shortly. Thanks

Yep... That's WinISD. A freebie, and a good one at that! You owe it to yourself to try it, if you ever want to learn to design enclosures! posted_image

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

You said you'd have the 4" References bridged off the HU's internal amp? I don't think this would be wise, I don't think many (if any) HU's can be bridged.

You probably won't even notice them if you didn't have them there (possibly save up for the better 4channel). But if you do have them there for the RR passengers, just run them off of the RR channels from the HU's internal amp.

Good point. I think weve decided to not run any speakers off the deck, and just run the rear deck and front door speakers off of the MRP-F250 WRXIn04 just purchased today. Thanks for the help!
