I haven't gotten to see it yet, but My friend have a Clarion CMD5 installed on his new(used) boat. When he plays from a CD it plays fine. When he switches to FM Radio he says it sounds distorted. So distorted that he thought it was the speakers. How do I test an FM antenna on a boat? What should I be looking for to isolate the problem? Any suggestions on solving this problem would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Frank

Highly unlikely that the antenna is your problem. Chances are the tuner inside the radio got wet and is damaged.

Take a jeweler's screwdriver and place it into the antenna jack on the back of the radio. This will work as an antenna just to verify that the antenna is not your problem.

Do not push the screwdriver in any further than an antenna would go into the radio.
