08 crv lock problem w/ python 1400

Whats up? This is bugging me that I cannot figure this out. Im putting a Remote start/keyless in a 08 CRV. Everything else works perfectly. The lock will no work. It will still work on the factory keyfob but not with the new one. I 99.9% sure the wire is correct. The wire meters properly and also it will lock with a fusible link when grounded.

I thought maybe the wire was bad and switched it with a new harness and the same thing. Unlock works fine but no lock. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe something I dont know about with the CRVs.

Is the output from the RS system putting out at least a 200mA ground ? Check to make sure that the RS is functioning properly and then make sure that the connection to the BLUE lock wire is solid as well.

Excuse my lack of knowledge but how would I double check the RS start system to make sure its sending at least a 200mA ground? Ive never tested for mA's before. I guess I could switch the wire that is work to the lock wire and see if it works also.

Try this, switch the wires (lock and unlocks) if the unlock wire no locks the car you know its a problem with the unit.

Hook the red lead of your meter to 12v constant and touch the end of the RS lock wire with the black lead of your meter. Set your meter to DC volts, when you press the lock button on your RS remote the voltage should jump up to around 12v. You could also use your alarms arm wire to lock the doors. To test the ma output. Set your meter to DC ma or amps. Connect your meters red lead to the RS lock wire and the black lead to ground. Press the RS lock button and you should get a reading on your meter.

Is the door closed or at least the door trigger pushed in while trying? Some vehicles will not lock or unlock with doors open. Some model Honda's have a white unlock detect wire that also needs to be ground when unlocking like in the new Accord. These are found in driver door at module. Other Honda models like Odyssey and Pilot have disarm in driver door which is BLACK/ red(-). You may need to run lock unlock wires to passenger side kick panel and meter while using the passenger side switches when testing.

The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.

Yeap, I tried that. Im going to give it a good looking over tomorrow.

If you can get it to lock by using a fusable link between ground and the wire, but you can't get it to work with just the alarm output I would try hooking a relay up the lock output of the RS unit.

The relay will 'click' when you lock the doors with the alarm remote, so you will know you are getting output.  You can then wire the relay up to a solid ground and not have to worry about a weak ground signal coming from the unit.

If you can't get the unit to click the relay then you know you have issues with the unit.

Good Idea. Im going to try this, but how would I wire up the relay?

85 - (-) lock output from alarm
86 - (+)12vdc constant
30 - Ground
87 - high current (-) output to lock wire in vehicle.
