Hi everyone..

This is my first post and my names Chris D.

A few people pointed me in the direction to this site after a topic went unanswered on a toyota tacoma forum..

I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma 2.4 litre SR5 package with a manual transmission.

The alarm is a Avital AviStart 4300 (4 button remote style)

I've been a bit hesitant to think of hooking up the autostart feature in fear of it jumping in gear when started.      I always keep it in neutral but there are times where I have to..

Someone mentioned theres some sort of setup where you install some sort of neutral safety devise on the shifter and the autostart will only work when the shifter is in the neutral position..

The person that gave the "heads up" on the setup hasn't said anything in reguards to were I can find what I need to make this happen..

Can anyone point me in the right direction for me to be able to use the Autostart and turbo timer feature?

I have the box from the alarm and there are a few harness's in there and switches..     I don't know what I'd need..

Thanks in advance..

Does this simply install on the shifter and plug directly into the brain?

No, It is a neutral safety interlock.
It will force you to set the truck in a "reservation" mode before leaving the vehicle.
I am not positive on how do this on the DEI module but it should be very similar to the manual transmission starters I install:

Stop the vehicle, place in neutral, pull the E-brake and tap the break pedal twice, the horn will sound and the doors will unlock.
Remove your key and exit the vehicle.
Close ALL the doors, the vehicle will shut off.

This forces the vehicle to have the e-brake on and the transmission in neutral. If you even open the doors unexpectedly the reservation will be canceled (can't have you bumping the vehicle in gear accidentally you know).

This is the safe way to setup a remote starter on a manual tans. vehicle.

thanks for the advice..

How does this work with the clutch switch?  (push in clutch to start)

I know that one time the clutch switch went out and it stayed on which caused the cruze control to not work..

any experience with that clutch start setup?

I've contected a few people listed on here as installers to se what it would run to have them install it..

I'm not electrically qualified to do this sort of thing..
