I recently purchased the Viper 791xv system and will be installing it soon. It will be going into a 96 Accord 5 speed. I bought it mainly for the alarm and door lock/unlock. I am just wandering which wires are not needed for the time being. Any input would be great. I have also downloaded the install manual and read through most of it while waiting for the system to arrive.

Anyone? Read through the manual again. I could be wrong but for just the alarm it doesn't look as though there is much to it.

If you want to add the remote start portion of it then you need to get a 689m.  I have installed it and seems to be straigh forward but make sure you follow the instructions to the teeth as it will only give you headaches when it doesnt activate.

i thought the 791xvl was the alarm/rs. i might be wrong. Also tthe ojnly safe way to do it on a manual is get a manual safe unit or get the 689m that enice mentioned.

Thanks for some feedback. Yeah I have read through a few of the forum posts on here about the manual/remote start deal. I figure maybe later I'll deal with that but last weekend my car was broken into and my stereo and radar was stolen so I am really just wanting to get the alarm working. I have hooked up many stereo systems and dabbled into some car electrical work but I have never installed an alarm. I just know it has a few harnesses that look to all deal with the starter so I would assume I can just hold on and not install them until needed at a later time.

Well the alarm is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I've looked through the install manual again and it really doesn't seem for just the alarm that there will be a lot to wire up. But just for reassurance can any one give me a run down a what wires need to be used for just the alarm hook up???
