as well how to utilize the trunk release, and i'm having trouble with the trunk trigger it says RED / yellow, but when i hook it up, its showing the is opened, when its not opened.

compustar pro-2wfm

and trunk release is white (5wi) don't understand that.

5wire is basically REV polarity. you can check out relays and see 5wire, but its fairly simple

use a relay

85 - constant 12v
86 - ground out (aux 1) from unit
87 - constant 12v
87a - Trunk release wire (switch side)
30 - Trunk release wire (motor side)

test your clutch to see if there is a negative when you press the clutch or a positive.

if postive connect your start wire to the wire that shows 12v when you press the clutch
if negative, connec negative start output (additional 250mA output) to the wire that shows ground when you press the clutch

i assume the compustar unit you purchased, you cut the jumper cable right?

on the pro unit, you leave it un-cut.

older compustar units you do have to cut it for automatic

but right now if i don't engage the clutch, it won't start. but if i sit in the car it'll try to start it.

as for the 5wi trunk release, i'm doing it at the ETACS ecu, so i'm not sure what side would be switch and what not, as the actual switch is actually located on the trunk itself.

switch side would be towards the ETACS ECU...motor side would be away from it (as far as tedmond's relay instructions).

You might be able to use the trunk release switch wire...however that might not be desirable if it means having to unlock the doors prior to pressing the trunk release.

Honestly I probably wouldn't bother with the trunk release at all if it just works the same as the electric switch handle.

I don't see here were there was a definate answer to your clutch question.

At the clutch switch you will find a blk/brwn, this wire needs to be "opened" during start.

They call it a type 4 (whatever) cut this wire, take the switch half to pin 87a, and the other to 30

The compustar has an aux negative starter output....put it on 86, and fused 12 volts to 85
