audiovox aps997a, 06 scion xb

Hi all. I have been installing car audio/video for several years, and this is my first attempt at an alarm install on my wife's 06 Scion xB. After reading the Scion xB wiring diagrams and the Audiovox APS-997a, I mapped out all the wiring and started at it. All my wires for the alarm/remote start are connected and the car starts when I use the key, however I have come across two problems that I am having, and I'm not sure if it's just the wrong wires I'm using or what, hopefully someone can help.

First, The Audiovox instructions list the tach wire for my alarm as the "Tachometer Input Wire" and states that the "wire will be routed to the vehicle ECM tach input or run to the engine compartment and connect to the negative side of the ignition coil." I connected the wire to the black wire at pin 9 going to the ODBII connector and tried the tach learning program for my alarm multiple times, and it still registers as not reading a tach signal. Since all the wires/relays are connected correctly and the car start normally, is there any possibility this could be the incorrect wire? Or is there a different tach wire I could try?

Secondly, I am having trouble with the door lock/unlock. I connected the negative door trigger wire to the RED / white (-), and connected the (-) lock and unlock wires to the correct wires in the wiring diagram to match what is needed for my alarm. However, the alarm will not unlock the doors when they are locked, and the lock sequence locks all the doors, but then automatically unlocks the driver's door again, and will not lock it. Any thoughts on this one, I'm not sure where to begin with it.

You always know a Toyota tach wire as they sit alone in a corner of the OBD2 plug(the shorter row of pins but away from the other wires). If the black wire you are getting is like this it is right. It should connect to the GREEN/ orange wire on your alarm. An alternative is to go directly to a coil. It will always be the second wire from the left if you are looking at it from the wires(there are 4 coils). I have never had the OBD2 wire not work tho.

Either you are not trying the locks with the door pin closed(this will make the door unlock after lock) or you have a wiring issue.  The lock wires are as follows

Connect the green and RED / black wires together and both to the yellow/black. Go into programming and turn on 2 step unlock. This will give you unlock on the drivers door the first press of the remote and unlock the others on the second.
