i just had a question, i have an alarm on my 99 mazda 626 that stopped working the other day but when someone hits my car when its locked the lights go off, but the alarm just isnt pushing any sound whatsoever. my dad was messing with the keys and he thinks it has something to do with that. can anyone think of all the possible answers to help me fix my problem? and i dont know what kind of alarm we have. came with the car when we bought it.

Ok. You will need to run some tests first off. Ok, when the alarm did work, besides the siren going off, was the horn also going off? You said that when someone hits the car, the lights turn on. Try unlocking the door and see what happens. In other words, do everything that would set your alarm off and see if the lights turn on during those times. Does your siren chirp or do anything when you arm and disarm the alarm?

no i dont think the horn was going off. and the siren does not make the chirping noise when i arm or disarm my vehicle. and i will try to set my alarm off.

It might be in valet mode, try this open the drivers door then hit lock then unlock then lock again

You might have misunderstood me. When your alarm was working properly, was the siren chirping when you armed and disarmed it. For example, on my alarm when I arm it, the siren chirps once. When I disarm it, it chirps twice. When I remote start it, it chirps 4 times. I also know that I can program my alarm to do silent arm/disarming. Also on my alarm I have a wire that can be hooked up to the horn output (which I have installed) so that when the alarm does sound, my horn will also sound. You would have to think back to when the alarm was working correctly to know if the horn was sounding. What I am trying to get at is that depending on how the alarm's siren was working (when the alarm was working properly), it could be that the siren went south. I just had tha problem 3 weeks ago where my siren went bad. I just fixed the problem by replacing the siren. Now, just think back to when the alarm was working properly. If the siren did in fact chirp (or do whatever) when you armed and disarmed it, but now isnt doing that at all, then it could be that the siren went bad. If the siren never did chirp before, then you could have blown the siren output BUT if the horn does also sound (when the alarm worked) but also is not working now, then its not a blown siren output. You did say that when the alarm is set off, that your lights do flash. So that does mean that the alarm itself is still working. Try arming the alarm then manually unlocking the door and see if the lights flash then. If so, then you need to check to see if you have any voltage coming out of your siren output wire. You dont need a DMM but you can rather use a test light.
