I have a 2002 Honda civic lx sedan. I have a problem with both my horn and my cruise control; neither one of them work. I'm thinking it might be a problem with my alarm system which was installed by the honda dealership (and since then they have no idea how to fix it--already been there). It is a crimestopper CAS-503ex (and good ol' crimestopper.com doesn't have my manual). One day my horn and cruise control stopped working altogether although my alarm and keyless entry still work fine. Just now when my alarm goes off only my lights flash when my horn also used to go off. I have tested my horn and my cable reel which are both fine. Does anyone have any idea how to help me?

That sucks about the dealer. The whole point of you paying them extra was that they're supposed to take care of problems like this.

But anyway, have you tested all the fuses in the car? I would go through and check each and every one, it doesn't take long.

If you have a test light or multimeter, you could turn on the car's ignition (so everything has power), open the fusebox(es), and........see on the top of the fuses, the two little metal exposed parts? Touch your test light to one of those, and then to the other.

If both of those metal parts show power, the circuit is on, and the fuse is good. If one has power and the other doesn't, the fuse is bad.

If both sides of the fuse don't show power, it's probably just that that circuit isn't on. (For example, the headlight fuse will test dead, unless you've turned on the headlights.)

If you don't have a meter or light, you can pull out each fuse and inspect it visually. It takes longer this way, but it'll work. Also, make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio before you pull the fuses out, because you'll have to reset it.

P.S. The alarm system (most likely) is connected to the car's (orange) horn wire in the bundle of wires that comes down from the steering column.

If the clockspring inside the steering wheel was broken, you wouldn't be able to honk the horn by hand, but it would still sound with the alarm. So I would go for the fuses first.
