Putting in a DEI Viper alarm this weekend in my cousins car, never worked on one before...If its anything like all the other civics, should be pretty easy.

Never worked on the 2006 civic before so I was wondering if any of you had any ideas as to where to put the brain...
Also does anyone have any info on how to take the dash apart? Just in case I decide to put it somewhere up in the dash

Thx

There's tons of room under the driver's side dash against the kick panel ( up high ). No need to hide it under the center dash at all. The only thing that I found hard was the hood pin location and on the 2007's the firewall pass through was tough ( I don't like to drill into the firewall unless I absolutely need to ).

Factory hood pin. Lt. Blue (NEG)- it's in a large harness with grey tape on it coming UP from the kick infront of the fuse box.

key KTM, long time no see. i see you moved up the the Yukon ! hows the weather. if you do a system for your 06 civic take some pics and share.

hey Bchillin, make sure you test all your wires with a DMM. dont just connect to what the diagram tells you to. you dont want to smoke your cousins 06 civic.

key kartuneman, your in luck ! i met an old friend of mine that owns an 06 civic. I got under the dash and found an area suitable for a 4 gauge. Looking under the dash its on your right hand side towards the driver door. its hard to see so a flashlight helps. there is a fairly large grommet thats made of rubber. theres a thick taped up bundle of wires going through there. when you pierce the grommet, poke (looking underneath) to the right hand side because if you poke towards the left your going to pinch the wires going through. I noted that the wires lean towards the left in the engine bay so poking left of the grommet ( right looking up). Not sure if you drive stick or not. If you happen to own an automatic civic, directly behind the brake pedal, pull the carpet back and theres a empty grommet (prolly used for  clutch wire on manuals) but this might be hard to fish out the wire. well good luck ! your a smart guy ! you could have found it without my help. what you planning to install ktm? navi, subs, amp(s)?

These newer civics are tougher than previous years... It rained off and on today so i didnt get to finish like i wanted to. I have door locks, door triggers, 2 sirens, and do a little programming in the brain still...

I CANNOT find the door lock wires to save my life...can anyone give some hints as to where to look? I really dont want to go behind the fuse box to get to that Multiplex Control Unit. Im trying to avoid that control unit at all costs. The wiring diagrams ive looked at says they are in the driver kick panel...Ive looked and cannot find them. HELP please, theres a really big harness which i think they are in but didnt look, but its pretty tight area to work in if you got big hands. Door locks slowed me down alot as i got discouraged/ frustrated

Door triggers should not be a problem at all i just got to get some dioides

As far as the siren under neath the hood, I have no clue where im going to put it, damn these newer civics have a really small engine bay...grrrrr. Need help/ ideas for this too...

Firewall pass through is tough. Couldnt find a grommet, and I also dont like to drill in the firewall. I ran my tach, and siren wires around the door jam but etched a little notch in the metal where the weather stripping goes, put electrical tape around the wires so they wouldnt pinch. I put the wires in the notch, then over lapped the weather stripping and routed the wires away from the door hinge and through a crack in the fender to the engine bay. Then used wire loom over those wires. ( I was desperate and feeling fatigued due to the 85 degree heat outside). Going to keep an eye on this method and see how it holds up. If it doesnt work out i might have to try that firewall grommet location that tedmond posted above

Tach is hooked up, remote start is working. The siren wire is loomed up just chillin in the engine bay until i figure out where the hell im going to put the siren.

Thats basically it, everything else was cake besides hiding the brain and the immobilizer...that took some time because i wanted to hide it/ secure it pretty good.

Oh yea as far as the immobilzer, i used an 05 civic immobilizer. i believe it was a 556uw, or 556hw... cant remember

The siren. I had issue with mine as well. On the passenger side, up front next to the radiator.

The door locks blow hard. I dropped the fuse box down in order to help reach the plug that goes thru the door boot.

Lock, unlock, arm, and disarm are in THAT plug.

Bchillin, i think the 556u are PITA to use. i only use Fortin Honda-SL3 for Honda and acuras and Idatalink or Key-Overideall by fortin for other vehicles. using th efortin piece, never seen problems. just another note, did you use a relay to power both the sirens? some may agree or disagree with me, but i like to take extra precautions as always.

Siren outputs (+) are often rated for less than 3 amps. Im sure a siren doesnt draw that much current but you can never be too safe. I suggest you use a relay and power BOTH sirens that way you eliminate the chance of burning that output.

85 - siren wire from main unit.
86 - ground
87 - constant 12v fused @ 5 amps
30 - to both postive siren wires

like i said, its not needed, but rather be safe than sorry. just my 2 cents :)

Advice on dropping the fuse box? I removed the bolt up top on the right and the fuse box has a plastic clip that goes into the metal fuse box mounting bracket, that was taken out too. I was only able to drop the fuse box about an inch or two. Those two plugs on the back of the fuse box at the Multiplex Control Unit hit the metal fuse box cross bar on the back, so i could only lower it so much because the two plugs are ran through an opening of the metal fuse box mounting bracket on the back.

Did you remove all harnesses in the fuse box so you were able to drop it?

It just comes down a bit....don't disconnect anything from it. The plug is up high ON the kick panal. There are 2 plugs, it's the white one....

The door lock wires are easy to get to. There are (2) looms of wires that go into the driver's door. One loom contains the door lock wires and the other contains the OEM alarm arm and disarm wires. Not hard to get to unless you have really large hands.

No I did not have to drop the fuse box. The wires are very easy to get to.
