Hi
I have a 2006 Scion tC AT. I installed the 791xv about 3 years ago and decided to install the RS part the past weekend. I got everything wired up, but the car is not starting. The relay clicks, but the car still doesn't start. At first I was thinking there's a problem with the immobilizer bypass, but then I tried to RS the car with the key in the ignition and it still doesn't work.
Where should I look at to fix the problem?
Thanks
-Roger

Does the vehicle have an automatic transmission?   If not, is the 791XV designed to be used on a manual transmission?

Yep its an AT.

Have you used a volt meter to verify that the wires you tagged were actually what the diagram you used said they were?   Also use the meter to verify that the starter output wire is going positive when the vehicle should be trying to start.  Was the hood closed when you were trying to start the car?

Yep I checked the wires. The starter output wire is positive when I try to start the car. The hood was closed, I even checked if the hood switch is connected by opening the hood when it is armed.
Is the alarm supposed to go off when the car is armed and I step on the brake pedal? Cause it's not doing that.

No it is not supposed to set the alarm off. The only reason you have to connect to the brake wire, is so nobody can jump in your vehicle while it is remote started, and drive off. When they hit the brakes to put it in gear, the remote start turns off and the engine dies.

When you try to remote start the vehicle, do the dash lights light up? If so try this, try remote starting the vehicle, use the key to actually start the vehicle, after it starts, without pressing the brake pedal, turn the key back off, if the vehicle remains running, you only have to figure out what the problem is with the actual start wire.

We have 2 starter and 2 ignition wires, did you use a relay to power all of those?

When I try to RS the car, the dash lights flash along with the parking lights. When I try to RS the car then start the car with, the alarm won't let me start the car until the RS process ends. Seems like its the starter kill.

I only remember wiring 1 starter wire. I gotta double check tho. Which one.
Where do I wire the second starter wire to?

I mean which wire from the relay should I wire that to.

u have to wire up ur own relay to the small purple wire in the 4 pin poug near the ribbon cable on the relay pack. but in response to the other guy, yes the brake wire chould set the alarm off. have u learned the tach wire or maybe set it to voltage sensing. without one it wont work also!

Cool Thanks =)
What should I wire up to the relay? Do I also need a high current positive wire?

Yep I checked the tach wire and its set to the default, tach sensing.

Does your remote start unit have 2 ignition and 2 start outputs?  If not does it have 2 of either?  If it does not have 2 of either, you will have to make the ignition wire trip 2 relays so they power the 2 wires listed for ignition.  Same if you only have one start output.  You should always use a high current source when installing a remote start.  It has to power the AC, heat or anything that comes on when the vehicle is remote started.

When you ask what should I wire up to the relay?  Which of the 4 wires (2 ign and 2 start) do you not have connected?

It has 2 ignition and 1 stater output.
Right now I don't have the 2nd starter connected.

Which of the 2 starter wires do you not have connected? What color is the starter wire coming from the alarm brain?

I connected the purple (output to starter circuit) to the 1st starter on the car. I'm not planning to use the anti-grind/ starter kill function.

I will draw you a diagram this evening. But if you want to dive in today, all you need to do is remove the purple wire of your alarm from the wire that it is now connected to. Now connect the purple wire to terminal 86 of 2 relays. Ground terminal 85 of both relays. Connect 30 of both relays to a constant 12 volt source via a fuse at the point of connection to said 12 volt source. Terminal 87 of one relay goes to the wire that you removed the purple wire from earlier. Terminal 87 of the other relay goes to the other start wire.

I haven't got time to try this yet, but I have a question about the high current inputs to the relays.
Since I ignition harness is already powering the XCRS, where should I get power for the two relays?
Thanks

If it were me I would go to the battery.

Cool.
Thanks for the help. I'll try to do this tomorrow.
