i want to do a simple install with a hornet 740T and a viper in-car motion sensor. all i want is the motion sensor and the built-in shock sensor.
so if i did this, all i would need to wire up would be the constant power, siren, LED/valet, parking light flash, and one of the optional sensors (for the motion sensor). all other connections on the brain can be left untouched? please let me know if this is correct.

i am planning on doing it to a few cars for family (2007 subaru legacy, 2000 honda civic ex, maybe a couple more). just looking for a general answer or does it have to be car-specific?
things i would not wire up (looking at the hornet 740T install manual from this site) with my plan would be: ignition, door and trunk pins, interior light, starter interrupt, and remote door locks.
I always recommend professional installation. But some DIY guys can pull them off. To answer your question about "does it have to be car specific"..yes. Every car is different, so are their electrical systems. You are going to need a digital multimeter among of tools to correctly test and know what your hooking your wire to. Today's vehicles are very complex and computer driven, it's very easy to set off airbags and mess up all kinda stuff. youll need to hook up ignition wire so system doesnt work when key is on and in case you have to manually override the system(system triggered and remote inop)also you have to ground the unit, lights hook up only if you wanted the parklites to flash when its going off, other than that you can hook it up as basic as you want
