I installed a Viper 160xv remote start unit in my 05 Scion xB yesterday, and it works well. I used the Scion wiring chart from 12volt.com. However, the heater (and instrument cluster) does not come on (when remote started) until the key is turned to "on". The radio does come on. The orange "accessory" wire of the Viper relay box is connected to the blue/red "accessory" wire of the xB.

Is there another "Heater" wire that needs to be connected? Will that require a separate relay?

Thanks.

are you powering both ignition circuits as well?

Yep, ckeeler is right. You need to connect the pink/white of the heavy gauge relay harness to the BLACK / YELLOW ( ign 2) at the ignition switch.

If you like, you can just connect the orange wire to the BLACK / YELLOW (ign 2) at the ignition switch. The BLACK/ red is just for powering up the radio which is not neccessary for remote start.

Yes, I have both the Orange high curr wire to Blu/Red accessory and the Pink/Wh high-curr wire to Blk/Yel 2nd Ign. I could try reversing the Orange for the Pink/Wh to see if I get heater/instrument cluster instead of radio...

If that is the case, have you connected the RED / white to the 12v ?

The install manual (p17) says that the RED / white is only needed "if more current capacity is needed", so, no it is not connected to 12v. But I did verify that the pink/white is not energizing. Flipped that for the orange and the heater runs fine in remote start mode. Are you saying that the pink/white requires the RED / white to energize?

Yes, the pink/white is fed from RED / white. It needed to be connected to +12 volt source. Well, since you used the orange and the heater is working so it should be just fine.

Thanks to everyone for all your help on this.

So... before I rip the dash apart again, I want to confirm that the pink/white "second ignition" is definitely powered only by the RED / white "additional current" wire. Can someone definitely confirm this? The DEI Installation guide does not even hint that this is the case.

Thanks again.
