Has anyone out there converted a mechanical trunk lid into elec. So it can be opened with alarm remote.

The method is exactly like when you add actuators to a door for door locks. Try that out to start.

You need a solenoid and relay for this installation.

They have the "trunk poppers" at I think www.commandoalarms.com or www.parts-express.com. Their like $30. Here's anexample, Just use a relay instead of the big switch.
If you really wanted to get fancy you could install a gas shock like trucks have on the their back glass to lift the lid after popped.

I got the trunk popper from commando alarms. It is pretty big and clumsy but instalation was simple.

i added the trunk pop to my alarm and i am having a problem. it seems to only work when it wants to. if i press the button on my remote or the button in the car nothing will happen. but if i open the trunk with my key and then close the trunk the relase will start working with the remote and the button for a short period of time. if i am in the car and i try to open it with my remote i will hear the relay click but the trunk won't pop. i got the info from here and i wanted to know if someone can help with this. i have a 92 olds delta with a hornet 553t alarm with remote start.
