I am trying to figure out what the programming is to set the parking lights to constant on a Python 1400XP. I looked in the Viper 560xv manual but didn't see anything. The system was just installed and just noticed that it blinks instead of just staying constant. Can someone help me out.

Read the installation manual for programming procedures.

I don't have a installation guide, circuit city did the install on the car. It's actually my fiance's car. I guess I will just have to take a couple hours from my day, and have someone re program it.

It shouldn't take hours, 5 minutes maybe. Start on the bottom of page 30.

Should be easy enough to do. Hopefully I can make it work.

So I looked today, and cannot find the valet button.

I took it to circuit city, and they were too busy to touch it.

Hmm...you could start complaining to Circuit City's management about how the sales/install people at that location never asked you which way you wanted the option programmed in the first place, and when you came back they wouldn't give you 2 minutes that it'd take an installer to reprogram it.

Then again this assumes a level of competence from management I never saw when I worked there.

The installer may have not left the valet switch plugged in after the initial install (it doesn't really do anything except programming, unless used for an alarm).

I would call up the store, talk to the manager, and explain how unhelpful the staff were in resolving your situation, and demand that they spend 5 minutes reprogramming the RS to your liking when you bring it in.

Call ahead before you go there and make an appointment.   Everyone else who has a car pulled in the bay has one...you should too.

They do, but when I worked there Circuit City had a policy that warranty repairs would get in right away, appointment or not, to atone for the fact that the store should have gotten it right the first time. Being that this is a close enough case to that the store should give him priority treatment.

I disagree. If the car was having an electrical issue, or wouldn't work it would be a totally different matter. This customer wanted a feature programmed. I suppose most people here are going to disagree with me, but that is a reflection on society's attitude that their needs come before anyone else. Flame away....

I wouldn't disagree in the least that everyone tends to have a "me first" attitude. You're right on there.

It's just that it wouldn't take much to make one customer happier(that he doesn't have to make multiple trips), and that you can always say to the other people waiting there (if they hadn't dropped their cars off in the first place) that "If you ever have a problem or need a programming change, I'll get you right in as well."

It all falls back to the technician not giving the customer a complete introduction to the features. It takes time but, in the end a knowledgable customer is a shop advertising machine.

well I called and talked to the store that installed it, and they remove the valet switch so that people don't reprogram and cause issues. He said just call and see if they're busy or not then come by.
