I have a 2008 GMC Sierra with factory RS. I want to upgrade the alarm buy installing one of the new Viper LC3's. I had a Python 872p (Viper 5701) on my old truck and loved it and it looks like the new LC3's are the same setup with better remotes. What Im wondering is what should I expect with the factory RS and everything. Im thinking I'll go with the DEI XK01 bypass module for the install but i just want to be sure of everything before I dive in. Im a very capable installer but I just want to pick the brains of the guys that know more about this stuff than i do. Thanks in advance.

you'll need a different module than the XK01.... i would reccommend the Idata ADS-DL and the RNG3 ring.... this will really simply the install on this LAN vehicle and save needing relays and resistors.....

If you use the 1701G, it will be a very easy install. I just got the 5901 Viper installed, and the installers where raving about how easy the install is comared to the XK01. With the DEI 1701G, that is the only module you will need. Good Luck. -Al

Al, What did they find easier? The installs are the same.

The installer mentioned how these new chevy trucks are a pain to install. They mentioned that they would need two modules to install the alarm system. I told them I had already purchased the 1701G, and once they started wiring, the tech was really surprised at how easy the install was, since the 1701G would do pretty much everything. He also mentioned that they had used another module a few days ago, and that the install was a bit more involved. I've heard a lot of good things about this 1701G module. Also, I didn't have to have a spare key (which I think other do need). -Al

Will there be any major differences since it has factory remote start? Also I have heard that some modules have a built in window roll-up feature. Does the 1701G have anything like this?

I believe that the auto windows down feature is added to your alam as an extra sensor/module. This can be purchased online or from your installer. My truck came with the factory remote start, and it doesn't seem to have made a difference. The installer wired everything to the 1701g module and then only 7 wires went directly into the truck, -Al
